Arizonans for Children has 2 visitation centers where children in foster care come to spend time with their parents and siblings in a fun, vibrant, engaging and safe environment. Each center gets between 700-1000 visits a week. These centers give the families a chance to bond as they work towards reunification.
For the last 18 years we have held a Holiday Party for foster children and will do so again this year on December 15, 2019. Last year 865 people attended this party and 200 volunteers helped with this event. Every child received six gifts each. One child stated that it was the best day of his life. We extend an invitation to all children in foster care to join us for this event, but historically we find that the vast majority of children who attend are those aged 11--18 who live in group homes. The younger children are the ones most likely to be in foster homes and to have foster families that celebrate Christmas. The group home children are not that fortunate. We expect 900 this year. This holiday season, please be reassured that every donation Arizonans for Children receives will be allocated in an efficient and conscientious manner to maximize services to our children and families. We hope you will help us provide a meaningful Holiday for these children.
