  The mission of Assistance League® of Kansas City (ALKC) is to transform the lives of children and adults through community programs. During 2021-2022, our 373 volunteer members contributed over 55,000 hours to impact the lives of an estimated 19,200 children and adults in the greater Kansas City area. The volunteer members (we have no paid staff) administer and staff a thrift store and nine philanthropic programs. Our philanthropic programs provide new clothing for at risk students; emergency help such as transportation for medical care and eyeglasses for children in-need; and clothing and personal care kits for sexual assault survivors for use after their hospital exams. We also give scholarships to disadvantaged high school seniors and returning adults, birthday celebration packages for children in foster care or shelters, teddy bears for police and EMT staff to give to children in crisis, and comfort and supplies for vulnerable seniors.
