Crayons to Computers
Nonprofit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt | EIN# 31-1507076
Crayons to Computers exists to level the playing field in the classroom by ensuring that students in need have the tools to succeed in school.
Poverty in the greater Cincinnati region is unacceptably high. Families struggling to put food on the table or pay their rent are not able to prioritize school supplies for their children. Teachers routinely spend $500-$1000 out of their own pockets to provide basic supplies, incentive and enhancement items for their classrooms.
The flagship program of Crayons to Computers is a Free Store for teachers which is augmented by a Mobile Outreach program through which a truck (loaded with a subset of product from the store) travels to more distant schools in the 16-county region. Product in both the store and the Mobile program is largely donated by generous individuals, corporations and foundations. A portion of Crayons' operating budget is allocated to purchase core items needed for classroom success.
Teachers who shop at Crayons are from schools where 60% or more of the student population benefits from the USDA's free and reduced lunch program.
Push 4 Pencils is the annual school supply drive for Crayons to Computers. The top 6 items teachers need most in their classrooms are 24-count Crayola Crayons, #2 pencils, dry erase markers, glue sticks, 1-subject notebooks and pocket folders.
