On The Rise is a confidential program that respects the privacy and dignity of it's participants. The items in this wishlist will go directly to a woman who has recently moved into housing. Here at On The Rise, we like to support each woman that finds housing with us by providing her with tangible home essentials to make her more comfortable. This participant is 44 years old and grew up in the Boston area. She became homeless after losing her job during the housing crisis and recession of 2008. She has been coming to On The Rise since 2008, fully utilizing the broad range of resources offered to her, including meals, laundry and clothing services, and general companionship. Our advocates accompanied her with her travels, advocated for her in court, dealt with both DCF and the police, and helped cover certain expenses when she needed it most. Most of all, On The Rise supported her emotionally through all of the ups and downs that she’s faced. She wants to dispel the myth that homeless people are unmotivated and unskilled. Her goals for her future include making sure she finds a job and pays her rent on time. Some of her hobbies include dancing, shopping, and seeing new places!
